Pelican Waters

This is my design that was published in the Australian Folk Art magazine in 2005. I've just finished painting it again for my Mum, however this time I've used different paints.
I used Atelier, Impasto Gel Medium for the water by applying the Gel Medium with a wide flat palette knife. When dried, I painted the rest of the design using Atelier, Interactive Artists' Acrylics.

If you would like any information on these paints or others, you could check out Chroma's website.

Oh dear, what to do with a sicky in the house. My baby woke up looking very grey, shivering, sore throat and headache. I haven't seen him look this bad since he broke his leg.

I should probably tell you my baby is 18 yrs old, but it doesn't seem like that when I look at him this morning. Hm, Panadol, fluids and cuddles sounds like the right treatment to me. Any other suggestions? Hugs, Anna

I too love your pelican and how clever using the paste to make the water. Its not good when your babies get sick...no matter how old they are. Hope he is feeling better soon and I heard a good trick..put Vicks Vapour rub on the soles of the feet and it helps the cold go quick smart. I havent tried it on myself yet as I havent had a cold (and dont want one either) but I have had positive results from others. :)

Talk about great minds thinking alike. I just read Tozz's comment about Vicks on the soles of your feet and not 5 minutes ago I suggested this very remedy for Kris at Tag Along Teddies. My Jess used this for her recent cold and thinks it helped. Nothing to lose!!
See you Monday.

Wow! Thanks ladies... my baby boy has just broke out in a cold too (the rest of us are now almost over it)... so I shall try vicks! I shall try it myself - simply to find out what it feels like!!! LOL..

Anna - your painting is fantastic, I love the textured effect, it is stunning. And that colour blue is a knock-out! :-)

Hugs! Vikki xx

Nice painting...the texture adds such a great dimension to it.

Hope your 18 year old baby is ok now. He'll probably look that way to you even when he's 50.:)

i LOVE pelicans and you've done a lovely job of this one, anna. your mum will love it!

my mum has always said that vicks on the soles of babies' feet really helps with colds. my 'babies' have had bouts of cold and flu in the past month too. :( i hope your 'baby' recovers from his cold very quickly.
