Dutch Pressie, OPAM, Mr Rooster

How lucky am I to have received this fantastic surprise "Dutch Pressie" in the mail today! There was five pieces of "dutch fabric", a card, two different ribbons, a mini pair of decorated clogs and a plain wooden pair for me to paint.
The lovely, creative, talented sender was Cindy http://www.uttemetut.blogspot.com/
Thank you so much Cindy, for sending me a gift in the mail!
You can also check out her sisters blogspot at http://moncherrycraft.blogspot.com/

This is my piece for OPAM this month. The design for this bag came from Vicki at http://tozzscorner.blogspot.com/ Vicki is offering this "Bliss bag" with a dainty stitchery on the front. I used pretty oriental print fabric instead.
OK, this piece I've called "Mr Rooster" however I feel there is something missing from this piece.
Any ideas or suggestions greatly appreciated!
Have a great week, Hugs, Anna

Hi Anna

Love your pressie! Will look forward to see what you do with the fabric.

Love your Rooster, some form of fence trailing over the distant background hills, popped into my mind.
Although I like it as is

Hello Anna,
Thank you so much for mentioning me on your blog as well. Isn't my sister a sweetie?!
The bag is very sweet. And well done on the painting!
I wouldn't paint anything in the distance as it will spoil the mystery of the morning view. I probably would choose for a branch or so with some leaves/flowers behind the rooster on the left.
But you are the expert, so I'm sure you'll come up with something!
Enjoy your day!

I have not ever seen any fabrics like that and you did well with the parcel of goodies Anna :) Your Bliss bag has turned out really lovely too :) I was thinking with your fabulous Rooster painting to perhaps put a sun starting to come up in the right hand corner? Just a bit of it...not much :) It looks really good. Hugs Vicki

What a super parcel, and thanks for the links, Your rooster is lovely though the right hand side of the picture does need something, maybe a flock of birds flying in the sky in the distance.

I love the Dutch "pressie" Anna, great colors! Just wanted to let you know that a peat pot is what you plant seedlings in and you can find them in any garden supply shop! ~xo~ Janet

Those fabrics are gorgeous, so different and 'simple' in that vintage feel that I love. Well done on your bag!!
Anna, in response to your comment on my blog - I have only been sewing for 4 1/2 years! Before that I cooked!!
Email me privately and I can send you my profile from Country Threads to read - all is explained there. :-)
Re your rooster...maybe a glimmer of sunset yellow on the horizon?? He's lovely, Anna!!

Hi Anna,
Your rooster is lovely, but I do know what you mean...he looks like he is waiting for something (so maybe that is it)

Isn't it wonderful to receive surprises in the mail! You have a nice friend there, great gifts. Regarding the rooster painting, I find myself wondering what it is he is looking at.

Hi Ladies,
Thank you all for the comments and advice on "Mr Rooster"
He's been sitting on my easel for some time now, waiting to be completed.
We were at a friends farm and he jumped up on the house veranda railing when I took his photo.
On the left of him was the dark, house that I didn't want to paint!
Jan, I think he is just looking over the farm?
Hugs,
Anna

Mr. Rooster looks very regal surveying his farm...he looks perfect the way he is! Beautiful painting, Anna!
How fun to find all of those goodies in your mail...mine only seems to have bills! :)
Pretty purse too...you've been busy!

Hi Anna, thanks so much for the lovely comment you left on my post! You are so lucky to receive such nice gifts.. looking forward to seeing what you make with them and the little bag is so precious! In regards to the rooster I agree with gail, a fence and maybe a handful of chickens roaming around.???? I am always in awe of anyone that can paint.. take care, Maryann

Hi Anna...love the bag!

About your painting, the only thing I might add would be something in the upper right part of the painting to balance the composition. Maybe a crescent moon or a setting sun?

Hi Anna,

The postie was very good to you and I'm looking forward to seeing what you are going to make with the fabric.

I like your rooster - very proud sitting there on the fence. The only improvement I could suggest is to add something to the right hand side to balance the design a bit - a tree, a shed etc.

Great job!

Hi Anna,
It's me again... You have not been 'blogging' for a while. Hope all is fine?!
Thanks for your reply on my blog. You asked me what I was going to do with Mr. Magoo. Well, actually I'm setting up my own web shop. That's why I'm crafting like crazy and that's where I'll (hopefully) sell Mr. Magoo! I'll keep you updated.
